If I may step out of character, so to speak, and make a text post, I want to thank Shahn of the hypnotic photo blog, Six Martinis and the Seventh Art, for kindly bestowing a Premio Dardos Award on Monster Crazy.
The Dardos (Dart) is a virtual award given out by bloggers. You pick 5 blogs you like and each of those, in turn, pass it on to 5 of their own favorites. The Dardos — whose beginnings are lost in Internet time — were originally a writing award, but they have come to include all types of blogs “with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers, a way of showing affection and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web.”
The Rules are: 1) Accept the award by posting it on your blog along with the name of the person that has granted the award and a link to his/her blog. 2) Pass the award to another five blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgement, remembering to contact each of them to let them know they have been selected for this award.
In keeping with the philosophy of tumblelogs, I’m giving a Premio Dardos to 5 picture blogs I admire:
Bibi bills herself as “a curious girl”. In fact, she is a formidable blogger who keeps a stupendous archive of images.
This Isn’t Happiness is awesome. Go look, see what I mean.
Exclamation Mark! goes from pop to high culture, with a penchant for monster movies and, apparently, a passion for Drew Barrymore. Great fun.
Defixiones is not for everyone. It is very dark and often disturbing, and it does both brilliantly.
Benhasten is devoted to photography as art. Impeccable taste and highly original content.
I’m looking forward to see who these bloggers — if they are willing to participate — will pick as their own favorites. It’s a great way to discover new blogs!
